I've lived in this area for a few months now so it was high time I explored Prospect Road - I've driven down it and went to the tour down under opening a week ago, but I really haven't seen it properly yet.

I set out on foot and walked down to Cafe Komodo for breakfast - who knew it was such a lovely retro-ish place? It's behind a row of shops and looks to be part converted shed, part outdoors, part converted garage... and all wonderful. The breakfast I had - Turkish Breakfast Bread - definitely scores my recommendation. To top it all off it was so friendly there... I'll be back for sure.

I wandered further along and found a really nice second hand bookshop - Prospecting for books - not so much the recent relase reselling kind of second hand bookshop but the could-be-anything kind. That's the best kind I think. I found some books of Australian poetry I'd been seeking - I had almost given up on finding them without a trip to the CBD but at last I succeeded. I'll be back to this bookshop too.

I wandered back homeward past the op-shops and antique and vintage sellers and generally had a wonderful time looking about. I've made it home in time to shelter from the hottest part of the day, so all is very much well.

Living here has been working very well for me and I had no trouble at all adjusting to things - I've even got used to the seventies floor coverings!

Work has put some challenges and less-than-wonderful things in my way lately but it continues to be a job I really, really enjoy and I'm going to get an opportunity for some fantastic training starting next week so, on the whole, things are quite positive there.

Oh, and I have a sewing machine now. So I think I'm going to go and find something to sew. It's been far too long, and I feel the need to get crafty!

Last night I was having more "fun" with the connection here so two days in one hit again. I took this photo while out geocaching - I was waiting for people in the other direction to disappear so I could thoroughly examine something without looking absurdly suspicious.

Also, someone at work was taking part in a mango fundraiser. I split a box with another friend from work - already eaten one. It was delicious. The rest will ripen over the next week or so then face similar fates.

Some of you know, some of you don't, I work in a library in a community centre. I visited the drop-in centre to say hello this afternoon and was promptly drawn on :)

A photo of some of the instruments in the house - I'd love to show you a photo of the music show that was in the library tonight but I can't. They got the kids really involved and actually playing music. Pitched at kids a little older than most shows we have had in the past, it was a great success. The person running it brought several other people along including a girl who was the age of most of the audience and who had been learning piano for six months (or so) to show the kids that they can achieve... the response from the attendees was great!

Henley Jetty this morning - it was beautiful down there. No editing whatsoever required on this photo.

I got up at six to get people to the airport by seven - then breakfast at Zootz Cafe in Henley Square (Eggs Florentine, YUM)also ran into someone I haven't seen in ages there, then to work where I got a call to work the late shift at Semaphore, so finished work, scooted off... to work, and got home around 9pm. I had a really nice dinner lined up but could only muster the energy for microwave pasta. Tomorrow I guess...

After all that I'm kind of tired. As Bridget Jones said... "I'm off to Bedfordshire"

The Biggest Morning Tea went rather well - and was the beginning of a busy day with quite a lot going on... not least a very large delivery of books that is going to keep me out of trouble for some time. I'd love to take the time to really examine all of the books, but I must press on and work... the sacrifices we make. Nevertheless I noticed a book on the subject of Chuck Norris and a Stavros Pippos photography book in there. Might have to look closer after they're catalogued!

After work I went to a signing where Garth Nix and Sean Williams were signing Troubletwisters, which they co-authored. And if you've already seen the photo twice on facebook, I do apologise but it relates to a competition entry ^.^; In related news, this is the second time Garth Nix has appeared in this photo blog. I've been to other author signings as well, but it's either been impractical or against the rules to get photos.

I also got new Tyres, picked up some honey I'd ordered (my favourite kind ^.^) and took care of other bits and pieces.

After all that I'm kind of exhausted.

Delicious gluten free brownies, slightly out of focus and still too warm to take out of the tray. They smell amazing, and with luck and the extra chocolate I put in, they will be.

If you want some then they'll be at the Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event at the Parks Library - Council Office in the Parks Community Centre at 11amish tomorrow, 27th May 2011, 10:15 if you want to catch preschool storytime. Come along, bring a donation for cancer research, and have some fun AND delicious brownies. Parks Community Centre is on Cowan Street in Angle Park. Loads of carparking, the library's near the middle of the centre.

My little penguin friend. Because right now I'm cold. Time to find a warm bed. Well, until I put my electric blanket on it I'll have to settle for a bed that'll be warm soon.

Today was interesting - ran in to some challenges at work and learnt quite a bit dealing with them. Good, but not really photo stuff I'm afraid...

Here I give you the winning Grand Final team... we did it! Everyone in the photo above (including injured players/scorers) are certifiably awesome. Next season we're rising from F grade to D grade... it'll be a challenge!

Also, today I baked cookies. Lemon Butter cookies I joined together with lemon icing melting moments style. Between work, friends and home they've all gone. I suspect they may have been considered a success.

And at work I did just under half of my shift before a call from another site which was low on staff meant that I did one shift in two places...

It's kind of amazing how fast I'm approaching the halfway mark in this year of photos - less than a fortnight away.

Today's netball match was fantastic, and a win to boot (19 to 4) - I was very pleased with my performance in both Centre and Wing Attack. My fitness has come absolutely miles since I started and I'm a much stronger player than I was too. I could not have spent so much time in running positions two or three years ago.

All day I'd had this nagging feeling I had something on. I'd checked and re-checked my phone and my notebook but couldn't find anything. Just after I got back from netball I got a phone call... I'd forgotten Liz's BBQ. Oops...

For those who do not know, Liz was one of my best friends in High School. We're not in touch all that much these days and very rarely see each other, especially as she's since moved interstate. Both of the Amandas were there too - one I met as a girl guide, the other later on. There were some great conversations, and a lot of catching up was done. I also learnt that Liz reads this blog - Hi Liz :)

Anyhow, I have a job interview tomorrow so I am going to get to bed. I really don't want to fall asleep in the interview, that's just be embarassing... I really want to do my best. I don't know whether or not I'll get the job - there are many people being interviewed - but whatever happens I want to give it everything I can.
