Today was mostly taken up by the final stocktake at Dad's business. It was made easier by using the files created in a stocktake around two months ago, but it still took a lot of doing. Very exhausting. We used little white and orange dots to mark what had been done so that nothing got doubled up or missed. There are little sticker dots everywhere!

As of Monday, Dad will be signing over the business to another family member and going into partial retirement, going into the business for a few hours a day to help them get things worked out. A few months from now and he should be fully retired. Though if I know Dad, he'll still find some way of being busy.

It's a big change for all of us. I took this photo of the whole family (including Barnaby) behind the front counter. Glad I got this, a good way to help remember something that's been a huge and positive part of my life, and played a big part in making me who I am.

It's going to be strange, but I think everything will be just fine

Of course it will. Change is always unsettling and this is no small change. However, that doesn't strictly make it bad. Nothing is all good, but nothing is all bad either. You've lost an icon, a sense of identity even, but you still have everything that is important. People that love you, a happy home and things to look forward to. You are strong enough to work through the change and wise enough to make the most of it. So you can be certain everything will be fine.
